These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Techion LLC ("Techion," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Techion iOS application, techion.dev, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
By downloading, installing, purchasing, accessing, or using the Services, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
The Techion app is licensed, not sold. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple Standard EULA") applies to your licensed use of the app and is incorporated into these Terms. These Terms supplement the Apple Standard EULA and govern Techion-specific features, websites, purchases, and services.
If these Terms conflict with the Apple Standard EULA, Apple's applicable App Store terms, or non-waivable law, the Apple terms or non-waivable law control to the extent of the conflict. Nothing in these Terms limits a consumer right that cannot lawfully be limited.
You must be legally capable of entering into this agreement. If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must authorize your use where permitted by law. The Services are not directed to children under 13.
If you use the Services for a company, government, customer, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" includes that organization. You also represent that you are authorized to access and administer every server, network, account, and item of data you use with Techion.
Subject to these Terms, the Apple Standard EULA, and Apple's Usage Rules, Techion grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, and non-transferable license to use the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, except that access may be shared when and to the extent permitted by Apple's Family Sharing, volume purchasing, or other applicable Usage Rules.
Except to the extent a restriction is prohibited by applicable law or an applicable open-source license, you may not:
Techion is an administrative client for user-configured Technitium DNS Servers. It can display server information and, at your direction or according to settings you enable, send commands, change DNS and server configuration, retrieve logs and statistics, create backups, poll for updates or query-log changes, and perform background tasks.
DNS administration is operationally sensitive. A command, configuration change, blocking rule, zone edit, restore, update, or automated task may interrupt service, alter resolution, expose information, or cause data loss. You are solely responsible for reviewing actions, maintaining appropriate authorization, testing material changes, keeping independent backups, and complying with policies and laws that apply to the server and its data.
Techion is an independent product and is not the Technitium DNS Server project or its operator. Third-party names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. No affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement is implied unless expressly stated.
You are responsible for safeguarding your device, Apple account, server credentials, API tokens, sessions, and backups. You must promptly revoke credentials you believe are compromised and restrict server privileges appropriately.
Connection security depends on the server address, certificate, TLS, proxy, network, and other settings you choose. If you permit insecure TLS, accept an untrusted certificate, or use HTTP or another unencrypted connection, credentials and server data may be intercepted or altered. You assume the risks of configurations you authorize. Techion does not warrant the security, identity, or availability of a server or network you configure.
Techion may allow you to download, retain, rotate, and restore server backups in local app storage or a Techion iCloud container. Backup archives may include sensitive server data, configuration, authentication information, logs, statistics, or other content you select. You are responsible for selecting appropriate backup contents and destinations, protecting backup files, checking available storage, and verifying that backups are complete and restorable.
Background work is scheduled and controlled in part by iOS, networks, your server, and Apple services. Techion does not guarantee that any backup, upload, download, scheduled task, notification, restore, or retention limit will occur at a particular time or complete successfully. Deleting the app or resetting app data may not delete Keychain items or iCloud files, and deleting a backup may not immediately remove copies maintained by Apple or another provider.
Techion may offer free functionality, a monthly Techion PRO subscription, and a one-time Techion PRO lifetime purchase. Products, features, eligibility, trial terms, prices, taxes, and billing periods are displayed by Apple before purchase and may vary by storefront. Purchases are processed by Apple and are also subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and refund rules.
Monthly subscription. A monthly subscription automatically renews for successive monthly periods unless canceled through your Apple account before renewal. Apple charges the payment method associated with your Apple account. Cancellation takes effect as determined by Apple, generally at the end of the then-current paid period. Deleting Techion does not cancel a subscription.
Lifetime purchase. "Lifetime" describes a one-time, non-expiring entitlement to the applicable Techion PRO features for the life of the product or service, while Techion remains available and technically able to provide them. It is not a guarantee that the app, every feature, third-party dependency, device, operating system, or support service will exist or remain compatible forever.
If you buy a lifetime entitlement while a subscription remains active, the subscription may not cancel automatically; you are responsible for managing it through Apple. Except as required by law or Apple's rules, charges are non-refundable and Techion cannot directly issue App Store refunds. Entitlements may require a valid Apple account, Apple's verification and restore-purchase services, and network access.
Techion's Privacy Policy explains how information is processed and is incorporated into these Terms. Core app requests ordinarily travel directly between your device and your configured Technitium server. They are not routed through Techion Analytics.
When no preference has previously been saved, Techion Analytics is disabled. After setup, the app presents an allow-or-deny notice. Choosing “Don't Allow” disables future collection and newly initiated uploads, resets the local analytics store and identifier, and requests deletion of associated Techion analytics data. If the deletion request cannot be completed immediately, it may be queued and retried automatically. Turning analytics off later stops future collection and newly initiated uploads but does not itself request remote deletion or erase existing records. The in-app “Reset Analytics Data” control resets local analytics and requests deletion of associated Techion analytics data. An upload already in progress may still complete.
While enabled, the app may send pseudonymous aggregate daily usage summaries to Techion-operated infrastructure. Analytics contains aggregate summaries rather than raw event tracking. It does not include DNS queries or other server content, domain names, server addresses or URLs, credentials, search content, server configuration, backup contents, raw requests, raw errors or events, IP-address fields, or precise client timestamps. Hosting and network providers may still process ordinary connection metadata to deliver and secure the endpoint.
Techion may use cryptographic verification to help ensure analytics requests originate from an authentic app installation. Limited deletion and security records may remain to process retries, prevent reuse of deleted identities, and document deletion status. You may not falsify submissions or interfere with the Services' security, integrity, or aggregate reporting.
You may use the Services only for lawful purposes and only with systems and data you are authorized to access. You may not use Techion to monitor, intercept, alter, block, disclose, or damage another person's traffic, account, server, device, or data without lawful authorization; violate privacy, computer-access, export, sanctions, intellectual-property, consumer-protection, or telecommunications laws; distribute malware; or burden or disrupt the Services or any third-party system.
Techion may investigate suspected abuse and may limit or terminate access to Techion-operated services when reasonably necessary to protect users, infrastructure, legal rights, or service integrity. Techion does not undertake a general duty to monitor your configured server or your use of it.
The Services depend on or interoperate with third-party products and services, including the Technitium DNS Server and server or DNS providers you choose; Apple's platforms and services for devices, distribution, purchases, subscriptions, backups, and related functionality; and hosting, delivery, security, and other service providers used to operate the Services.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms, licenses, privacy policies, availability, and security practices. You must comply with applicable third-party terms. Techion does not control and is not responsible for third-party content, systems, changes, outages, data handling, or acts and omissions. A link or integration does not imply endorsement.
Techion and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest in the Services, including software, designs, text, graphics, branding, and other content, except for third-party materials and the data you or your server provide. No rights are granted except the limited license expressly stated in these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA.
If you voluntarily provide suggestions or feedback, you grant Techion a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable right to use and incorporate it without restriction or compensation, provided this does not grant Techion ownership of your server data or personal information.
Techion may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, compatibility, prices, or Techion-operated services. Updates may be required for security, compatibility, or continued use. Techion does not guarantee that any version will remain available, support every Technitium or iOS version, or continue to function after a third-party change.
These Terms remain effective until terminated. You may terminate them by ceasing use and deleting the app, subject to any continuing subscription you must cancel separately through Apple. Your license terminates automatically if you materially violate these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the Services. Provisions that by their nature should survive—including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnification, dispute terms, and general provisions—will survive.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TECHION DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, QUIET ENJOYMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, AND WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
Techion does not warrant that the Services, backups, notifications, updates, analytics, or server results will be uninterrupted, timely, complete, accurate, secure, error-free, compatible, or free of harmful components; that defects will be corrected; or that a configuration or restore will produce an intended result. DNS and server administration can affect network availability and security, and you assume that operational risk.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions. In those jurisdictions, exclusions apply only to the fullest extent permitted, and any mandatory warranty remains in effect for the minimum period required by law.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TECHION LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, DEVELOPERS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, BACKUPS, CONFIGURATION, SECURITY, OR SERVICE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED THAT SUCH DAMAGES ARE POSSIBLE.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of Techion and the foregoing parties for all claims arising out of or relating to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid for Techion during the twelve months before the event giving rise to liability.
These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. They do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury to the extent applicable law prohibits exclusion.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Techion LLC and its members, managers, developers, affiliates, licensors, and service providers from claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, and reasonable costs, including attorneys' fees, arising from your unauthorized or unlawful use of the Services, your server or data, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement or violation of another person's rights.
This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from Techion's own conduct for which indemnification may not lawfully be required. If you are a consumer, this section applies only to the extent enforceable under the law that protects you.
You may not use, export, re-export, transfer, or make the Services available except as authorized by United States law and the laws of the jurisdiction where the Services were obtained. You represent that you are not located in a country or region subject to a United States government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you are not listed on a United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
You are responsible for complying with laws and rules applicable to DNS administration, security testing, access to systems and logs, data protection, records retention, sanctions, and export controls.
These Terms are between you and Techion LLC, not Apple. Techion, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support services for the app. Techion is responsible for maintenance and support only to the extent required by applicable law or separately promised by Techion.
To the extent any warranty exists and the app fails to conform to it, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price paid for the app, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Techion, not Apple, is responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product-liability, legal or regulatory, consumer-protection, and intellectual-property-infringement claims, to the extent required by law.
You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app, including wireless-data and server-provider terms. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, Apple has the right to enforce the Apple-specific provisions against you.
Except to the extent the Apple Standard EULA or mandatory law requires otherwise, these Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Services are governed by the laws of the state in which Techion LLC was formed, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Subject to any non-waivable right to bring a claim elsewhere, the parties consent to exclusive jurisdiction and venue in the state or federal courts of competent jurisdiction located in the state in which Techion LLC was formed. Nothing in these Terms prevents either party from seeking appropriate injunctive or equitable relief, and nothing deprives a consumer of protections or forums that cannot lawfully be waived.
Techion may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Services, law, or business practices. Updated Terms will identify their "Last updated" date. When required, Techion will provide additional notice or obtain consent. If you do not agree to revised Terms, you must stop using the Services; continued use after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Apple Standard EULA, and applicable purchase terms constitute the entire agreement regarding the Services and supersede prior or contemporaneous understandings on that subject. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the remainder will remain effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without Techion's consent; Techion may assign them in connection with a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, or transfer of the Services.
